Thanks, Ann. Going to the museum with kids is so fun and so rewarding. Though it can also be frustrating because they never want to linger quite as long as I do. We've had so many wonderful museum trips over the years and discovered so many wonderful artists. Even my teenaged boys who say, art is really your thing, Mama, still have favorite pieces and can name so many artists and talk intelligently about art. Probably the best homeschooling investment we ever made was buying yearly museum memberships at the MFA.
I so agree. I love hearing about your homeschooling days, Melanie. Picture Study was a big reason I felt drawn to Charlotte Mason's philosophy of education (and living!). My kids loved visits to our local galleries, too. Now that they're grown, my husband & I still love to drive over to Raleigh and take a walk around NC Museum of Art. Then we'll go downtown to a favorite spot for supper. A little date on a Sunday afternoon :)
Don't you wish you could climb into Larsson's paintings and walk around those cozy rooms? The textiles, the furniture, the whole vibe!
